Davao City’s Samantha Umayan scores perfect 5 pts in Uaap HS girls chessfest


Samantha Umayan, a woman national master from Davao City, has achieved a perfect score of five points in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 86 high school girls' chess competition. Umayan, playing for Far Eastern University (FEU), led her team to the top of the standings after eight rounds. FEU secured a commanding victory over the University of Santo Tomas (UST) in Round 7 and continued their success with a win against UST in Round 8. FEU now has a total of 19 points, displacing last week's leader, National University (NU), who slipped to second place with 18.5 points. UST claimed the third position with 16 points, while Adamson University sits in fourth with 10.5 points. The tournament will resume this weekend with the final two rounds, where FEU will face NU and De La Salle Zobel.
